The name of this mocktail is an ode to the feminist Utopia imagined in Hossain’s, Sultana’s Dream, where women are in charge, war and crime have been eliminated, and great technological strides have been made: this is Ladyland. Cheers to Begum for her unyielding pursuit of education, her humorous approach to the advancement of equality, and for dreaming as wildly as Ladyland!

In her work, she advances arguments for why women ought to be allowed to live freely, exercise their powers of reason, and, crucially, decide their own fates. Lifting a glass to Gabrielle Suchon for speaking her educated mind, supporting women’s rights, staying focused on her message, and not following the lines of debate set before her - a votre sante!

Named after world record mountain climber, Lhakpa Sherpa (1973), also known as the mountain queen. this milk tea mocktail is made keeping in mind the history of milk tea and its Tibetan/Himalayan roots. Sherpa is a world-renowned Nepalese mountaineer who holds the record for the most successful female summits of Mount Everest, with 10 ascents. Cheers to the mountain queen, may her summits pave the path and mark the trail for the women who dream to climb!

I love this recipe not only because it is delicious but also because it is perfectly suited for a single serving or for a pitcher for a group!

I absolutely love this espresso cocktail for the fall and winter. It features the Dirty Pumpkin syrup with all of its beautiful spices, takes a step away from the traditional vodka or whiskey used in espresso martinis, and includes a nice barrel-aged rum for a well-rounded cocktail.

You can make this cocktail with vodka OR tequila and it is delicious! I also love this recipe because it uses pure cranberry juice so you can truly adjust the balance of sweet and tart to your preference.

There are competing stories about how the Tom Collins came to be, but the most likely story is that a bartender named John Collins created the drink and ushered in a new style of "long drinks". The name of Tom Collins rather than John Collins is most likely due to the original drink being made with Old Tom gin. Long drinks are drinks that are a little lighter in alcohol by volume and feature soda water. The light bubbles in the soda water refreshes the pallet and the low alcohol makes this a fantastic cocktail to sip with or before a meal or while relaxing. 

Scofflaw was a term coined by a US prohibitionist who held a contest to coin a new term describing a lawless drinker. That same year, an American bar in Paris, France named this cocktail the Scofflaw. Originally made with whiskey, the American preferred spirit pre-prohibition, I include a vodka and whiskey recipe.  

Amaro CioCiaro is an Italian digestif and can be served neat with a lemon twist after a meal. The flavor is bittersweet and citrusy with herbal, floral, and earthy notes. I like to mix mine into a cocktail and Strawberry Fields and fresh lemon juice are a perfect accompaniment!
